Terence Byrnes lives in Montreal, Canada. His published works include
fiction, memoirs, and much writing about fine art photography, as well as his
own photographic work. His most recent book is Closer to Home: The
Author and the Author Portrait (Vehicule Press 2008), which combines text
and photographs to create two distinct kinds of portraiture.
Articles about Byrnes`s portraits have appeared in The Literary Photographer
and the Montreal Review of Books. A selection of work from The Author
and the Author Portrait, published in Queen's Quarterly was nominated for
a National Magazine Award in 2010.
Nineteen selections from his long-term project, Springfield, Ohio: The End of
the American Road, formed a recent solo show (May 2010) at the Art
Gallery of Hamilton in Hamilton, Ontario.
